ENVIRONMENT
CULTIVATION IN THE MARSHES OF THE GUADALQUIVIR
More than 150 species of birds use the Guadalquivir Marshes as a stopover or wintering place and around 125 choose it as a breeding habitat. If we add to this the large extensions of cork oaks, full of birds in their canopies, the result is an unparalleled explosion of life.
It is one of the best-known images of the Doñana Marshes and it is precisely in this dream setting that Arrozúa carries out its work as rice distributors in Andalusia.
The paddy field from which the Isla Mayor rice is extracted forms an essential part of the ecosystem surrounding the Doñana National Park. The objective of Arrozúa is to provide consumers with a product of the highest quality, grown in an environment without equal, and with the commitment to respect the environment. This responsibility translates into the use of sustainable techniques such as Integrated Production.
RICE DISTRIBUTORS IN ANDALUSIA COMMITTED TO OUR LAND AND OUR PEOPLE
Isla Mayor rice is extracted from the rice fields of the Marismas del Guadalquivir, which is located in the southwestern area of the province of Seville. 80% of its surface is within the limits of what is considered the immediate environment of the Doñana National Park.
It extends through several Sevillian municipal terms, among which is Isla Mayor, a population where it covers 25% of its extension.
RICE FROM ISLA MAYOR, A PILLAR OF THE ECONOMY OF THE AREA
Rice cultivation in the Guadalquivir Marshes shows a strong dynamism and a clear tendency to expansion. So much so that the province of Seville has become the territory with the largest cultivated area of rice at the national level, some 32,000 hectares.
The data on the evolution of the Sevillian rice field with respect to the Spanish whole show a remarkable stability of the relative percentage of the latter. Rice grown in the province accounts for 40% of the country’s production, reaching up to 310,000 tons.
These figures put on the table an obvious reality and it is the potential of the sector both locally and internationally. Isla Mayor rice is a crucial economic segment on which the development and well-being of said municipality and surroundings have been supported.
CAREFUL PROCESS TO THE MILLIMETER
Such a special environment requires a production process where the protection of nature prevails. The role of Arrozúa as distributors of rice in Andalusia is characterized precisely by sustainability and respect for the environment.
In this sense, the irrigation system for rice cultivation is based on the continuous recycling of the water used, while also maintaining acceptable levels of sanitary and climatic stability. Each phase is carefully controlled and analyzed to make the most of natural resources and offer rice of recognized quality.
Our environment is everything. It is this land that gives us that plus to the final product, turning it into a genuine and acclaimed rice wherever it goes.
